About
I am Gustavo Narea, a Venezuelan freedomware developer who studies Computer Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid and works for GNU/Linux Matters. I’m an active developer, with varying levels of participation, to the following projects:
- TurboGears, the best web application framework I’ve ever seen. One that scales up and scales down, and one of the few that don’t reinvent the wheel.
- Repoze, specifically repoze.what, an authorization framework for WSGI applications (it’s used by default in TurboGears 2 applications).
- Poliglota, an advanced, multi-website Content Management System focused on internationalization and high performance (it generates fully static websites). It powers GetGNULinux.org, among others.
- Animador, a newly started web application project that will enable organizations to run online, multilingual, viral marketing campaigns for websites.
- repoze.who.plugins.ldap, a repoze.who plugin for LDAP authentication in WSGI applications.
You’d find more information about me on my personal, non-technical website.
About this website
This is my website for articles related to Information Technology, focused on Freedom-respectful software (aka Free Software). It’s worth noting that whatever I say here doesn’t represent the position of the projects I work for: I am solely responsible for the comments I make here.
Used technology
This website is entirely powered by freedomware.
Under the hood
As most of the web sites you visit, mine also runs under GNU/Linux and uses the Apache web server along with PHP — By the way, I recommend you get the real facts about GNU/Linux and Windows.
This is not it, though. The server that hosts these files has much more software required to be online, but it is not handy to list them all.
The exterior
What you see when you visit this website is the Wordpress CMS and an adapted version of its Emerald theme.
Senseless phrases
It wouldn’t be hard for you to find weird, senseless phrases on this website: I’m not a native English speaker. Please, let me know when you spot a typo or another kind of mistake.
